Three days into the countdown and we have 10 more until the show beginning June 25th. Saturday and Sunday the tents will be open to visitors at 10 AM. Make sure to stop by the Art in the Wilds souvenir tent where you can buy a t-shirt along with some other fun items to celebrate and support the show!

Let's carry on getting a peek at this year's artists.

Anthony Arkus is returning this year with his stellar metalwork sculptures that are a standout you'll not want to miss. He says that the goal with his art is to create work that is not only functional but beautiful high quality that pushes the beliefs in what steel can do. I believe he succeeds because he manages to use such an unyielding medium to make some of the most delicate looking pieces you'll want decorating your home.

Right next door to Anthony is Lisa Arkus. She creates the cutest, most colorful paintings that are accented by mixed mediums such as paper. The subjects are often whimsical fun you'll enjoy looking at. I have three in my home, so I've already started my collection! Start yours this year, if you haven't already.

Pamela Bartl is one of our returning artists that works with fiber. She hand weaves clothing full of color and texture while also being comfortable, as well. You'll find all sorts of patterns that might fit right in with your wardrobe, ready to become part of your favorite outfit.

Down to Day 2, 11 more days until showtime, and it looks to be shaping up to be a beautiful weekend the 25th and 26th. Now, while planning your trip to Kane remember there is plenty to do after visiting Art in the Wilds.

There are restaurants right in town along the main road (RT. 6/North Fraley Street) as well as some others that are worth a visit, including the Flickerwood Wine Cellars out on Flickerwood Road.

Also, there will be food vendors in the park to keep you fed and hydrated while you're walking around in the summer heat. Remember, all this information will be available to you in our hospitality tent near the central pavilion!

Since we covered last year's award winners, let's take a look at some of our new artists.

Mimi Antonetti, originally from New Jersey who now calls Pittsburgh home, creates some amazingly powerful jewelry out of metal. Her website Nautilus Creations shows off some of the work you'll find at this year's show. Each piece is painstakingly created one link at a time into a bit of decorative armor you can wear every day!

This year we are happy to have some new potters joining us at Art in the Wilds. Karen McKee will be in one of our tents filling that space with her wonderfully crafted and colorful pottery. Many pieces incorporate hand-painted or stenciled designs of birds, bees, and flowers. Since they are also glazed to make them food safe, you can have a new favorite mug decorated with the joys of nature to add to your daily routine!

Another new potter joining us is Krysta Robinson. Formerly a High School teacher of ceramics and graphic design, she eventually decided to focus on her art full-time. Clay is her favorite medium and she uses it to make items ranging from sleek fine art to playful and quirky items that would make a great conversation starter in your home or office.

The time has come for this year's 12 Day Countdown! It's day 1, and a grand welcome to everyone preparing to visit all our fantastic artists here in Kane, Pennsylvania. It's the 16th annual Art in the Wilds Fine Art Show held in Evergreen Park.

Whether you've been with us in the past, or happen to be a brand new visitor to the area, we look forward to seeing you! There are several new artists along with old favorites with some exciting pieces I can't wait to see in person. The park will be packed with wonderful new art ready to go to a forever home so let us take a sneak peek at what can be expected under the tents this year.

First and foremost, due to the constraints in the schools - a continued response to the Coronavirus - our student show is canceled indefinitely. The logistics alone have made it took complicated for the teachers and our coordinators to feasibly carry on. However, we still wanted to supply a place for local young artists to display their work. When you visit, make sure to stop by at the Hospitality Tent where the new student showcase will be. Say 'hi' to our volunteers, find information on restaurants, places of interest, trails, and more there as well.

On to the artists! Let's start off with last year's award winners who are returning this year with more incredibly treasures to sell.

Peggy Houser was our 2021 3D Best of Show. This joyful woman is a local artist from Kane that has the ability to bring that joy out in her colorful intricate beadwork. Not only are her jewelry pieces a feast for the eyes, they offer an extra sensory treat for the fingertips. You might find that a beautiful beaded necklace or bracelet you can run your fingers over now and then can be as soothing as a warm blanket. I have one of her pieces on my shopping list this year!

Our 2021 2D Best of Show was Kim Keller. A mixed media artist that creates amazing  paintings out of materials such as plaster, fabric, paper, or whatever isn't nailed down and happens to fit the piece! I was lucky enough to collect a gorgeous Heron painting that has a prize position on my wall. It stands out with vibrant colors that go hand in hand with the impressive textures shaping the whole image. Absolutely love it! You'll find something you love, too.

Of our two Excellence Awards, the 2D went to Larry Downey and his wonderful photography. His art stands out in particular because he transfers the images he captures onto interesting mediums such as slate or metal. They fit in just about anywhere and cover an array of subjects, seasons, and colors to go along with your favorite space at home. He is a great artist to start collecting from!

Finally, our 3D Excellence Award from 2021 went to Kalpana Lehman. Her silver and glass jewelry is mesmerizing in design and in the chosen materials in each piece. There are many different items from earrings to necklaces and more that are elegant yet practical enough to wear every day for any occasion. What impressed me the most when I looked over her collection was how natural the materials appeared within the pieces; minimally altered to showcase the beauty of nature.

This year is shaping up to be one of the best!
